Welcome to Fabric n Stitch, a creative haven founded by Arlene Rayner in 2020. Initially conceived with the aim of imparting the timeless art of sewing to children, our journey has gracefully evolved to encompass a variety of kits over time. Nestled in the picturesque landscapes of New Zealand, Fabric n Stitch operates as a boutique-style, home-based business with a global presence, reaching customers in the USA and Australia and of course New Zealand.
Arlene’s passion for sewing started when she was a child and learnt to sew on her Mother’s old Singer foot treadle machine with her Mother teaching her to make skirts and dresses. Later on, during the early stages of motherhood when her oldest child was a baby she achieved a diploma in Pattern Drafting from the NZ College of Fashion Design.
With a foundation built on a commitment to fostering essential life skills, Fabric n Stitch strives to empower children with the joy and fulfillment of creating something with their own hands. Whether it’s mastering the art of sewing on a button or skillfully re-hemming a garment, our mission is accomplished when children gain these valuable skills. At Fabric n Stitch, we encourage the recycling and re-using of clothing to extend the lifespan of cherished items. By doing so, we not only contribute to environmental consciousness but also instill a sense of responsibility in the younger generation.
A pivotal chapter in our journey has been the support and patronage of our customers. Thanks to your unwavering support, Fabric n Stitch now proudly donates monthly to KidsCan NZ. This children’s charity endeavors to support and uplift children in need. Your role in this endeavor is indispensable, and we express our heartfelt gratitude for making a positive impact alongside us.
